Last week I took a long, laptop-free weekend vacation in Rome. It was my first time in Italy and I had a blast. There were a lot of good things packed in there, from being in the middle of EuroPride to eating at a fantastic seafood restaurant. One thing that I had decided to doContinueContinue reading “Exploring Coffee in Rome”

A stroll at home
Last week I took a walk around my neighborhood on the way to Valbyparken. I love taking a stroll in a place with a camera and no particular agenda. These are all down Trekronergade, not far from my apartment in Valby. Three crowns street. No light, but color. Buildings speak of food.
Upgrading to Drupal 7
So rocktreesky is finally running on Drupal 7. I upgraded the site a few weeks ago and thought I’d share my experience. This is a very simple blog site so my upgrade process was fairly simple and easier than it would be for almost any other site out there, although the overall approach is goingContinueContinue reading “Upgrading to Drupal 7”
Sommerflæskesteg (Summer Pork Roast)
One of the first really Danish foods I fell in love with was flæskesteg. Flæskesteg translates simply to pork roast, so there isn’t anything particularly crazy about it, but the Danes leave the skin on the cut so you get an incredibly yummy, crispy pork rind with every slice. I like pig, and I likeContinueContinue reading “Sommerflæskesteg (Summer Pork Roast)”
Setting up a new server
I’ve been playing around a lot with my site, doing an upgrade from Drupal 6 to 7. I also decided to set up a new server on Linode to give them a try (I’ve heard great things about them). I’m an Ubuntu gal so I had to choose between the LTS (Long Term Service) orContinueContinue reading “Setting up a new server”
Ramsons: Garlic of the North
Right now we are at the height of ramsons season here in Denmark (ramsløg in Danish). I’d never encountered them before, and I assume it is because it is native to Europe and so not generally found in the US. They are quite fashionable in Danish kitchens these days. Ramsons are a member of theContinueContinue reading “Ramsons: Garlic of the North”
A year of wandering
One year ago I gave away most of my belongings, packed my bags and left home, or at least what had been home. I was running away from a life that had left me confused and feeling stranded, and running towards… something else. I knew not what. I’ve been living in various cities for theContinueContinue reading “A year of wandering”
Sunny, Lovely Uruguay
While most of the U.S. and Europe are being pummeled by winter weather, I’ve been wearing flip-flops and shorts, and eating my way through Montevideo, Uruguay. It is summer here in the southern hemisphere, which is exactly why I’m here and not there. Most people get the idea of heading south for the winter, butContinueContinue reading “Sunny, Lovely Uruguay”
To Be A Geek – Geek Girl Meetup CPH
This Friday I am returning briefly to my favorite city, Copenhagen, only to shoot off again and go on vacation for the first time in years (that’s a whole post in and of itself). On Saturday it turns out that there will be a event called Geek Girl Meetup Copenhagen (in Danish). There was suchContinueContinue reading “To Be A Geek – Geek Girl Meetup CPH”
Daring Cooks: The dolmas that could have been
Our October 2010 hostess, Lori of Lori’s Lipsmacking Goodness, has challenged The Daring Cooks to stuff grape leaves. Lori chose a recipe from Aromas of Aleppo and a recipe from The New Book of Middle Eastern Food. Of course, in my normal fashion, I decided to not use the recipes provided but to make oneContinueContinue reading “Daring Cooks: The dolmas that could have been”
