Working with a Personal Trainer

February 1, 2021 add1sun

One thing I've done recently that had a big impact on my health was to work with a personal trainer (online). I wasn't really sure what that would be like so I thought I'd share why I found one to work with and how that went for me in case others are curious. Why a… Continue reading Working with a Personal Trainer

Two Years of Healthy Changes

January 14, 2021January 18, 2021 add1sun

Two years ago today I started yet another new exercise plan. I'd been stopping and starting with exercise over the previous year, but I just hadn't been able to get it to stick. This time however, I've managed to keep it going. I've done some form of exercise at least 3 days a week for… Continue reading Two Years of Healthy Changes

Lesbian Fiction and Romance

October 18, 2019 add1sun

In the last year I've been reading a lot of lesbian fiction, mostly romance. I've been enjoying myself, but it also feels a bit like a dirty little secret. Romance books are the stereotypical realm of the middle-aged woman, and well I'm a shining stereotype I guess. I've gotten so much joy from some of… Continue reading Lesbian Fiction and Romance

Preparing to be Left Behind

May 11, 2019May 11, 2019 add1sun

My wife left to hike the Appalachian Trail just over six weeks ago. It's been quite the experience so far for both of us and I want to talk a little about what it's like being "the one left behind". There are a million blog posts by hikers, but not so many from the family… Continue reading Preparing to be Left Behind

Catching Up

February 25, 2019February 25, 2019 add1sun

Wow, it's been almost 4 years since I've blogged. Certainly not the first break I've had in many years of having a blog, but this was a good long one. Since I last blogged I've been pretty busy and haven't really felt like trying to articulate the normalcy of my life. For a quick catch-up,… Continue reading Catching Up

Getting Started as a Board Director

May 16, 2015February 24, 2019 add1sun

A few months ago I ran for, and won, a seat on the Drupal Association (DA) Board as an At-Large Director. I’d like to share my journey with everyone, both to provide another look into the work that the board does, and to understand what it’s like to be a new board member. I’ve now… Continue reading Getting Started as a Board Director

Joining the Drupal Association Board

March 25, 2015February 24, 2019 add1sun

Wow. That was the first thing I said when I found out that I had been elected to the Drupal Association Board. The next thought was how much trust the Drupal community has put in me. I’m honored to be elected. Thank you. I also want to thank my fellow nominees, who all stepped forward… Continue reading Joining the Drupal Association Board

How to Vote for Drupal Association Board Members

March 11, 2015February 24, 2019 add1sun

The Drupal Association (DA) At-large Board seat is now open for voting. The polls will remain open through March 20th. (Note: I couldn’t find this written down, but I believe this means until 11:59pm UTC on the the 20th.) To be eligible to vote, you need to have a Drupal.org account already, and to have… Continue reading How to Vote for Drupal Association Board Members

Drupal Association Board Elections Are Important

February 21, 2015February 24, 2019 add1sun

A week ago I stepped up and nominated myself for the Drupal Association (DA) At-large Board position. This wasn’t a decision I made lightly, and I’m very excited to see so many other people have nominated themselves as well. There are 24 people up for the vote, which bodes well for a strong community. I… Continue reading Drupal Association Board Elections Are Important

Something and Coke (aka Coketails)

January 13, 2015February 24, 2019 add1sun

The fifth drink in the list I’m working through, is one that I’ve actually never ordered, and I can’t tell you if I’ve even ever had one. I’ve combined two very similar ones here, based on the main ingredient, Coke. I’m talking about the highball classics Rum and Coke (aka Cuba Libre) and Bourbon and… Continue reading Something and Coke (aka Coketails)

The #sommerhus garden project begins in earnest. The last picture shows the crazy overgrown hedge we had removed. Today was finishing clearing and setting up a raised bed. Eventually we'll build back a hedge and flower garden along with the veggie garden.
One big nutrition adjustment for #perimenopause+ is to increase protein. Between that and increasing my training I've been doing all kinds of things to get moar protein. We just tried these bug protein bars from @heyplanet_foods and they are good! Like, actually yummy. We'll be stocking up on some of these. #bugfood #sustainable
Rockin' my new @feistymenopause tank for today's workout. I started with some perimenopause symptoms a few years ago, and they've gotten more consistent in the last 6 months, as I approach 50. The Menopause Feisty group and their Hit Play, Not Pause podcast have been a good source of info, especially for those of us who want to stay active and train hard. #menopause #feelingfeisty
Kitty snow prints. Just a dusting of a snow last night.
We wanted to go to the movies. So we rearranged the living room into a movie theater, made popcorn, and went on a date. #lockdownlife
Oh hell yes! I'm finally a permanent resident in Denmark. Unless you've been through immigration, you have no idea how good this feels. What a huge load off our backs. #immigrant
