I'd never heard of burning tongue until I read this book, Menopocalypse by @amanda.thebe. And I happened to read this while I was experiencing it and worrying what was wrong with me. I didn't have the actual burning sensation that it is named for, but my tongue was numb and felt dry no matter how much water I drank, plus I had the weirdest taste of metal in my mouth constantly. I was so excited to have a name for it. This perimenopause symptom only lasted about 2 weeks for me (for now) but at least now I know what it is if it happens again, even if there really isn't anything to do about it.
